Top Wedding Questions

What style do you specialize in?

I work in a documentary style for most of the day. I focus on capturing emotion and ambiance. I do take formal posed photos during the hour or two set aside for family, bridal party, and bride and groom portraits.  The bulk of your day will be unposed natural documentary style.

What do you think makes your work distinct?

I do.  I have worked for many years in this industry.  I have worked with and for other photographers.  I have also been a bride, bridesmaid, maid of honor, sister of the bride, wife of the groomsman and “that annoying guest” that wants to take their own photos.  Having been all of that it has given me incite into different rolls your loved ones play in your day.  I don’t make your day about my photographs.  I make it about all the love and emotions you feel. I don’t want to direct your every step.  I want you to be in the moment and feel.   This allows me to work with you and capture who you were on your wedding day.

Can we see a whole wedding day from start to finish?

Yes, I would be more then happy to share a few full weddings so you can really get a feeling for my style.

I don’t want to spend an hours taking photos, do I have to?

I work hard to meet the expectations of my clients and the amount of time we take photos is really up to you.  I ask all my couples to create a list of people you would like to take photos with through out the day.  That list can be as long or short as you would like.  I have gotten a list as long as 297 posed family photos and as short as 5.  The amount of posed photos is really up to you.

What equipment do you use?

I use Canon Cameras, to be more specific I use the Canon 5D MKIII and 5D MKIV

I use a selection of lenses including:Sigma Art 35 1.4
Canon 50mm 1.2
Canon 85mm 1.2
Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro
Canon 135  2.0
LensbabyComposer Pro with Edge 80
Lomography Petzva 85mm 2.2

I also have a Fujifilm XT1 that I use for my personal work and when I want to shoot in a minimalist style

I use the Canon 600 EX-RT Flashes, an Ice Light, a Yongnuo LED light, and a Streak Light with many modifiers.

I also have everything in duplicate for back-ups just in case anything breaks.

How long till I get to see the images?

It takes approximately 3 weeks for the images to be ready after the wedding.

Do you charge for travel or multiple locations?

Every wedding is different so I often customize packages for couples. I offer packages for weddings happening within 50 miles of my home and also destination packages for people out of the area. All travel costs are built into the packages.

How many pictures do you take?

I’m not sure but the average I have come up with is 30-60 images an hour. The average 10-hour wedding will receive 600-1000 finished edited images.

Do you have liability insurance?

Yes, I am fully insured and can provide certificates of insurance to wedding venues upon request.

What do you wear?

It depends.  I like to blend in with the guests so I often shoot in a dress and comfy shoes that allow me to move around or slacks and a silk blouse so I have ease of movement.  Suit jackets, often times inhibit my movement so I only wear them if required by a venue.

Top Portrait Questions

Where do you photograph and what time is best?
All portraits sessions are shot on location.  I can visit you in the comfort of your own home or at an outdoor location.  It’s important to choose a time of day that your child is happiest so when choosing a date and time be sure to take snack and nap time into consideration

What should we and my little one wear?
I am a big fan of kids wearing something they are happy and comfortable in.  If your daughter doesn’t like tights please don’t make her wear them, if she is starting the session fussy no amount of candy bribes will make her truly happy.  As for adults I always say wear something that makes you feel good.  If you feel great it will show in the images.

What’s included in the session fee?
The session fee includes an over the phone pre-session planning chat, the sitting, the artist’s edit, online viewing & ordering and, yes, the files.  What does all that mean?  I work with you prior to the session to get a feel for your vision and I work with you to create a unique experience for the session.  After the session I personally work on every image to bring out your best and make images that will be timeless, that is the artists edit.  Those images are then delivered as a high resolution JPG on a USB or via digital download.

How long till I get to see the images?
Delivery times vary depending on the season but for the most part portraits take about two weeks.

Having the files is great but I really want mementos like an album or a large portrait, do you offer those?
Yes!  I offer classic canvas portraits, loose prints, keepsake albums, holiday cards and some other amazing products.

What are your prices and how do we book you?
Pricing for portraits start at $350.  Please contact me for a full list of pricing at rita@petitphotographie.com .
